“Congratulations. I was very happy with the result of the elections in Greece. You are coming back,” he said Prime Minister of Portugal, Antonio Costa to Nikos Androulakis during the family photo at the pre-convention of the European Socialist Party.

Androulakis: Greece cannot adopt the Council’s proposal on the refugee issue

“The tragic shipwreck off Pylos brought back the refugee-immigrant issue. But the proposals of the European Council seem to disregard the magnitude of the issue”, said Nikos Androulakis after the end of the pre-session of the European Socialists in Brussels.

The president of PASOK-Movement of Change also noted how “you cannot propose 30,000 relocations, when last year we had 960,000 asylum applications throughout the European Union” and argued that Greece cannot adopt this proposal.

“We must have our own proposal. A proposal that forges solidarity between European states, respects human rights, and can address the real causes, which escalate human mobility from third countries to the European Union”, stressed the president of PASOK-KINAL.
