The Minister of Civil Protection emphasized that next week there will be a series of meetings with local government bodies, as well as the DEDDIE and the ADMIE
The Minister of Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias spoke to SKAI and the show “Kalimera” about the issue of prevention and the steps that have been taken to prevent any fire.
Specifically, Mr. Kikilas emphasized that “the effort to have prevention, to have an organized plan, to have protection of our forests, our properties but especially people is very important especially in these times. These are times of intense climate change. We are in the heart of fire protection season. It is a national duty, a patriotic duty to protect our country.”
“According to the data we have, there are municipalities that have done their work, that have used the money of the Ministry of the Interior, but there are municipalities that are not at this level”, stressing that on Monday a meeting will be held at the Ministry of Civil Protection in which Deputy Interior Minister Theodoros Livanios, municipalities of Attica and the Regional Governor are participating, while as he noted “it will be extended to all the Municipalities of the country”.
“We want to urge, inform and draw the attention of all colleagues of T.A. In the middle of summer we are all obliged to do our work in the best possible way”, added Mr. Kikilias.
“I want to thank my local government colleagues who have already shown professionalism and seriousness, we will draw attention to the rest. It is a responsibility towards their citizens and the citizens of this country”, stressed the Minister of Civil Protection, while as he underlined “the next meeting, during the week, is with DEDDIE and ADMIE. There are kilometers of cables, high voltage networks and we want to see where we are.”
“Initiatives will be undertaken so that the mayors use the funds they have more quickly and that a series of bureaucratic steps are not required. It is a total, group and national effort, in which everyone must participate. No one is spared in this battle.”
Also, Mr. Kikilias praised the organization and the framework that the acting minister, Mr. Stournaras, has put in place.
