The creation of a European innovation hub centered on Western Attica would have multiple benefits for the region, emphasized the MEP and head of PASOK’s Parliamentary Group in the European Parliament, Nikos Papandreou in his intervention at the event on the theme: “Green and Digital Transition in the West Attica”.

Mr. Papandreou pointed out that the green and digital transition is an important issue concerning our future. “It represents a challenge, but also an opportunity for growth. It’s not just an idea. It is a necessity for the survival and sustainable development of our society. But we must ensure that the transition is fair and inclusive of all citizens, protecting social cohesion and equality. It requires political will, investment and cooperation of all stakeholders. With the right approach and continuous effort, he pointed out, we can move towards a more sustainable and digital society. It’s an opportunity to create a better future for the next generations.”

Referring in particular to the digital transition in Western Attica, Mr. Papandreou emphasized that it could be an example for all of Europe. “The creation of a European innovation hub centered on Western Attica would have multiple benefits for the region and could support the green and digital transition that is necessary for the competitiveness of our companies, for cost reduction and also for security of the workers”, he said characteristically.

Finally, the PASOK MEP also referred to the good experience he gained when many years ago he worked in the region in a factory that manufactured metal Coca Cola cans.
