In his first official speech today, Wednesday, the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, at the general assembly of SEPE, he spoke about Greece before gov.gr and Greece after, as “previously we were moving in uncharted waters. We still have a lot of work ahead of us in order to advance the digital transformation, and the companies in the sector have excellent potential , means and infrastructures, so as to contribute to it. The Greek State is being transformed, the private sector is helping and all of us together are steadily creating the Greece of the future”.

The minister underlined that “it was an excellent challenge, the invitation of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to take over the Ministry of Digital Governance. The invitation is even greater, because I am succeeding an objectively successful minister, Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

As he characteristically said, “in the past we used to cruise in uncharted waters, until Kyriakos (née Pierrakakis), together with the rest of his team at the ministry, created digital Greece and put things in order. We are passing through the age of maturity. Utilizing the resources of the Recovery Fund, the “Digital Transformation” Program of the new NSRF, the Public Investment Program and other financial and technological tools, we will advance even more dynamically towards the digital age.”

Mr. Papastergiou pointed out that “there are critical sectors, such as cyber security, open data, artificial intelligence and its applications in public administration, digital accessibility where important technological projects should be launched, in realistic terms and with the aim of continuing to facilitate the lives of citizens and businesses. It is time to realize that we need to respond to a national mission: to continue the digitization of the country. To consolidate a new Greece which does not suffer, but on the contrary gains the trust of its citizens and its European partners every day”.
