Recruitment to the Ministry of Health is an immediate priority, said the Minister of the Interior
The Ministry of the Interior represents a great challenge with the aim of offering better quality services to the citizen, emphasized the new minister, Niki Kerameos, speaking to SKAI and the program Atariiastoi.
He noted that we have already set the goal of speeding up recruitment in the public sector with immediate priority for the Ministry of Health, where there are specific needs.
He emphasized that he is already in collaboration with Michalis Chrysochoidis to launch the immediate recruitments and added that the prime minister has announced 10,000 permanent recruitments in health.
Referring to the ratio of 1/1 in public recruitment, she said that it will be observed, but will be modified according to the needs and mentioned the example of education, where thousands of recruitments were made in the previous period.
Health is now prioritized, he said and noted that “all the emphasis is on the citizen, how he will be able to enjoy better quality services from the public”.
The goal, he said, is for the citizen to know who is responsible for each problem and to find a solution immediately, if, for example, a tree is in danger of falling on his house. “Let the citizen know how he can solve his problem” he said.
Regarding the evaluation in the Public Service, he said that target setting and productivity bonuses are introduced, as “we want healthy incentives and advancement of public servants”.
He noted that there are training programs for 250,000 employees mainly in skills.
Asked if the evaluation is linked to layoffs, he said: “No, look, there is a specific framework from the Constitution. The evaluation aims to highlight more employee skills, we will see all this in detail.”
Regarding the new salary scale in the State, he said that it will be effective from 1/1/24 and added that “to have better services, you have to give better salaries, the Prime Minister has also announced this before the elections”.
The goal is the best wages for everyone, said Ms. Kerameos.
“There will be raises for everyone, raises linked to positions of responsibility, plus there is the productivity bonus. The more efficient the employee, the more he will be paid” notably he pointed out that for 14 years there have been no raises for civil servants.
