I was assigned, which is also very honorable, to propose the government’s first bill on the vote of expatriates, said ND MP, Takis Theodorikakos, speaking to SKAI and the show Today.

“Finally the government, I believe with the assistance of all the parties, resolves an issue that has been open for half a century, there was a provision in the Constitution, but the constitutional legislator was asking for 200 votes” said Mr. Theodorikakos and continued:

“Now, the process has started and the government is coming, as it looks like there is room to get 200 votes, to remove all restrictions on expatriate voting. Those who are registered in the electoral rolls and are for any reason abroad at the time of the announcement of the elections are just as Greek as us. All Greeks abroad will be able to vote. I find it nationally necessary and absolutely democratic.”

He explained that those who are registered in the electoral roll and are for any reason abroad when the elections are announced will be able to register in the special electoral rolls and vote without restrictions.

“We ask for the support of all parties and all MPs, so Greece becomes stronger. That’s why I believe that SYRIZA should also reconsider its position”, stressed Mr. Theodorikakos.
