At the meeting of the Turkish Minister of Defense with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias Turkish Defense Ministry spokesman Zeki Akturk said. The Turkish representative described the meeting as “positive and productive”, however he emphasized that the Turkish armed forces continue to defend the rights of the country, “without retreating”, reports SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis.

“The Turkish Armed Forces in Aegean and in the Eastern Mediterranean continue to defend our rights and interests as well as those of the TRNC without backing down. Our country is in favor of solving all problems within the framework of international law, good neighborly relations, in the spirit of alliance, in a peaceful way, with dialogue and mutual respect. And he makes a great effort”, he emphasized and added:

“At the Vilnius Synod, our minister had a meeting with his Greek counterpart, which was positive and productive. The meeting discussed the continuation of the positive agenda between the two countries and the maintenance of open channels of dialogue. And the agreement to resume discussions of Confidence Building Measures was ratified.

In the framework of the guarantee and alliance agreements, we stand by our brothers in Cyprus, as in the past. Turkey as a guarantor country, within the framework of its legal rights arising from international law and international treaties, will continue to be the guarantee of peace, tranquility and security in Cyprus».
