The proposal to hold a permanent conference was voted by a large majority by the members of the Central Committee on September 3 and leadership election on September 10 (first round) and 16.

The second day of the meeting of the SYRIZA Central Committee concluded with the appointments of party officials and the voting on the two proposals submitted regarding the timetable for the election of a new president of the party.

The second proposal that was tabled and rejected was a permanent conference for September 3rd, an extraordinary conference on October 25th, and an election of a president on November 26th.

On Saturday, they submitted their nominations Efi Ahtsioglou, Euclid Tsakalotos, Nikos Pappas and Stefanos Tzoumakas.

His resignation from the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance was announced by Christos Spirtzisspeaking earlier at the EC meeting.

It is noted that he had announced his resignation after the departure of Tsipras, as, as he had argued, he proposed that new organs be formed. However, Mr. Spirtzis remains in the Central Committee, as his decision only concerns the position he held in the body of the Political Secretariat.
