Velopoulos: “I don’t want patrons and patrons… I have the Virgin Mary, Christ and the Greek people as patrons”
A “hot episode” between the speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tassoulas and the president of the Hellenic Solution Kyriakos Velopoulos took place on Thursday in the national delegation in the context of the pre-scheduled discussion of the political leaders on the fires.
“You and the other pieces of the same ideological direction are traffickers of “fake news” you say whatever nonsense anyone can say and when we answer you you get irritated. Nisafi now. You will not be in a safe place,” said Mr. Mitsotakis, addressing Mr. Velopoulos. Regarding Mr. Velopoulos’ claim that the fire in Parnitha was extinguished when a retardant was poured, he wondered:
“Who is telling you this nonsense? Only Pezetels use retarder, not helicopters and fire planes. And they have little contribution to putting out the fire.”
“The prime minister is talking nonsense and lies…. He is a prime minister. I will not let the purple-born prime minister talk to us like that. I know that what I say offends the prime minister,” said Mr. Velopoulos, irritated by Mr. Mitsotakis’ criticism. No more kidding with the Greek solution, when they insult us, we will insult” he said.
Then the president of the Parliament interrupted him, and replied that “you pretend to be knowledgeable about history and the regulation, and you yourself admitted that you violated the regulation with your knowledge”, characterizing the behavior of the head of the Hellenic Solution as unacceptable and humiliating for a political leader. “You just said you were insulting. The prime minister did not insult you. He gave serious criticism. You yourself have now said something degrading about yourself. You knowingly insult the prime minister. This is a misdemeanor,” he noted.
Addressing Mr. Velopoulos, Mr. Tasoulas said “leave these things now, I’m trying to protect you and continue”, with Kyriakos Velopoulos replying “I don’t want davatzis and patrons… I have the Virgin Mary, Christ and the Greek as my patron people”.
The president of the Parliament pointed out that “because you pretend to be a connoisseur of history, the purple-born is the one who was born in purple. Kyriakos Mitsotakis was born in 1968 during a dictatorship in Paris, so there was no purple for Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Enough with your lowest level, which you yourself admitted”, with Kyriakos Velopoulos answering “I also grew up in Paris, don’t look at my father was a miner”.
When he finished his speech, Mr. Tasoulas told him that his responsibilities are now increasing, as his party is now fifth in parliamentary strength in the Parliament, after the developments in the “Spartans” and the deletion of the three MPs from Vassilis Stiga’s party .
“This, Mr. Velopoulos, also increases your responsibilities… Today you severely disappointed us. You talk about the system all the time. Just to talk to you… Hey man, where did you see the system? Now we are trying to build a system in this country to improve it. You’re all messing with a system. Where did you see the system? We are trying to make the country European and you are all talking about the system”, said Constantinos Tasoulas.
