“During the debate in the Parliament, no answers were given, there was no acceptance of responsibility and there were no proposals for the next day”, said the president of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA-PS
The president of the SYRIZA-PS Parliamentary Group, Sokratis Famellos, harshly criticized Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with Kontra Chanell, saying that “during the debate in Parliament no answers were given, there was no acceptance of responsibility and there were no proposals for the next day”.
Also, he added, “Mr. Mitsotakis did not restore the feeling of security and came without proposals, while he resorted to conspiracy theories without citing any evidence”.
Regarding the fire in Evros, he said that “Mr. Mitsotakis underestimated the risk and thought he could deal with it with the classic recipe of communication, while he also resorted to the fire in Mati”.
“The responsibility lies with Mr. Mitsotakis personally,” said Mr. Famellos and explained that “the prime minister made unreliable and consistent proposals and announcements in the last four years which he did not follow.”
Regarding the internal parties of SYRIZA and to the question of why he himself is not running for leadership, he said that “I chose and accepted the honor and responsibility to represent the parliamentary group of the party”. “I have no such pursuit,” said Mr. Famellos and added that “there are many comrades who suggest it to me.” He noted that “I do not believe in groups within SYRIZA, society and the party as a whole should be more important than groups and trends”.
Regarding the candidacy of Stefanos Kasselakis, he said “we must be wary of the impressions of the first days that every candidacy creates. It takes time to express the imprint of each nomination. SYRIZA has nothing to fear from pluralism.” As for the position of Nasos Iliopoulos, that the nominations should come from the parliamentary group, he said that “there is no such restriction from the statute”.
For the next day after the election of the leader, he said that there should be a conference and a change of organs. He also noted that he was surprised by the resignation of Alexis Tsipras.
