“What we saw in the two months after the election victory of Mr. Mitsotakis were fires burning the country from one end to the other, human lives being lost, enormous ecological destruction and properties being destroyed,” said the SYRIZA presidential candidate -PS Efi Ahtsioglou in yesterday’s gathering-discussion with citizens in Acharnes, arguing that “the state was absent, it appeared only to place the blame somewhere else and through extreme conspiracy theories legitimizes self-appointed sheriffs in Evros”.

“Mr. Mitsotakis’s staff state is not just a giant machine of embezzlement of public money, rusfetological relations and surveillance of half the political system and the military of the country as we knew it, but ends up being a criminal state,” he said. He commented that “Mr. Mitsotakis promised us cosmogony in Civil Protection and in the preparedness of the state and what we are experiencing is the ultimate dystopia”.

Mrs. Ahtsioglou underlined that “this summer we have experienced extreme phenomena of violence. Far-right hooligans crossed the entire country and arrived, using public transportation, to murder a young man in N. Philadelphia, and there the state is indifferent, absent.” He also mentioned that “this summer for the first time so many Greeks could not take a single day of vacation due to financial pressure” and that “this summer we see workers swimming to serve, to earn their living wage, and a Minister of Labor to responds with the proposal for 13-hour work and the most flexible working relationships”.

The candidate for president of SYRIZA PS stated that “Mr. Mitsotakis is instilling in Greek society the fear and the feeling that he cannot have anything better, that he cannot claim anything better”. He added that “what we must do first of all is to break this fear”, because “Greek society deserves, is entitled and can live better, this is the big political bet of the next day”.

He noted, at the same time, that “SYRIZA-P.S. it must return to the government orbit and give perspective to the citizens”, emphasizing that “being a government party obviously means that we have our starting point, the ideology and values of the Left, but we address the widest possible world. We seek the greatest possible political and ideological influence. We seek to convince and win more and more people every day.”
