A special chapter for dealing with domestic violence will be included in the draft amendments to Criminal Codeas announced by the Minister of Justice George Floridisspeaking a while ago in plenary.

Its president had taken the stage Freedom of Navigation Zoi Konstantopoulou which called on the government to take serious initiatives to institutionalize femicide as a special offense that carries a heavy penalty and initiatives to set up special teams, even within the Judicial Police, to protect the victims.

“The draft law on the amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure, will include a special chapter on domestic violence. In a few days they will be consulted. We will have a good opportunity to discuss all these issues there. There are provisions that create a protection net for women, increase the number of professionals who, when they see incidents, will have the obligation to report them”, said Giorgos Floridis and informed the national delegation that “there will be a protection net for those who report in a way that they have absolute non-persecution and thus teachers, professors, doctors, coaches who will have such an incident in front of them will have to report it and when they report it they will have absolute protection”.
