Mr. Famellos underlined that the message of these elections is important and it is that SYRIZA is here with a reinforced mandate from society to submit a proposal to govern the country.
The president of the party’s Executive Committee spoke about a very important day for SYRIZA PS, Sokratis Famellos in his statements at the headquarters in Koumoundourou.
He said that approximately 147,000 people participated in the elections (the counting has not yet been completed), of which 40,000 are new members.
Mr. Famellos underlined that the message of these elections is important and it is that SYRIZA is here with a reinforced mandate from society to submit a proposal to govern the country.
He thanked those who voted and all the executives, stressing that “we will respond to the responsibility of this great participation. He commented that this participation shows the anxiety of the people.
He emphasized that “the massive participation is the best message for the next day, it gives us strength and efficiency. It is a social need to strengthen SYRIZA, it is a social need for the new SYRIZA and its strong political proposal, for the good of the country, society and the economy”. When asked about this, he said that “unity and collectiveness is not only our strength, it is also our heritage and we will all protect it”.
“We remain with one goal, to make society better, we will submit proposals and obviously we will submit clear criticism to Mr. Mitsotakis because things are not going well, the citizens can see that. We don’t like that our country is not doing well,” he said.
He emphasized that SYRIZA has submitted proposals since 2017, 2018 and 2019 that could reduce the impact of this extreme climate change and “it is not in the interest of our country that Mr. Mitsotakis left them in the drawers”. “We submitted proposals today as well and we were there next to the citizens and in the difficult conditions. We asked for a debate in Parliament with the aim of preventing what happened from happening again and to have a stronger society and economy. Mr. Mitsotakis probably avoids dialogue because he is afraid of criticism. We can withstand the criticism and we want to improve the reality”, he noted.
