The prime minister started his speech with the topic of climate change. “In the summer, the European south was hit by fires, floods and major disasters”, emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis, calling for collective action in order to deal with the rapid changes. “In Evros we had the biggest fire in Europe and a few days later, Greece was hit by floods”, he stressed, adding that “it is not a crisis of the poor, but a battle of the European south with the climate crisis”.

The second topic Kyriakos Mitsotakis raised was Immigration. He stressed that a plan is needed to manage the problem at its source and not allow traffickers to impose their terms. “The pressure on our borders is increasing once again. We need to strengthen the border guard and the mechanisms that detect traffickers,” he stressed.
