From the floor of the Parliament, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, launched a direct attack on the government and announced that the party’s MPs will vote against the labor bill on principle, while pledging that what it provides for the labor regime will be abolished when the progressive faction takes the reins of the country. “We are fighting for a new social majority that will pave the way for a progressive government, which is the only way for the country to change its page”, he emphasized to the applause of PASOK-KINAL MPs.

Mr. Androulakis stated that the government’s legislative interventions are deeply conservative and do not respond to the need to regulate the new forms of work that arise. “The masks fall completely with today’s bill. Fully flexible work, abolition of overtime, conditions of complete insecurity for the future of workers”, he said and emphasized: “Work more hours without more rights and wages is the message of the ND”.

The president of PASOK-KINAL argued that the regulations proposed by the government with the bill favor the contracts made to the order of the employers while he criticized it for deep hypocrisy in the issue of working time arrangements where he argued how it changes the law of Mr. Hatzidakis as it does not prohibit the parallel employment with the same employer without additional remuneration.

For the three years in particular, Mr. Androulakis spoke of mocking Mr. Mitsotakis, saying that the government’s relevant amendment contradicts what the Prime Minister announced at the TIF since it foresees the temporary unfreezing until 2027 and he pointedly implied: “Why until 2027? Does it coincide with the election cycle? Shame on you for underestimating people’s intelligence. Funny trick, combine this measure with your reign period. It concerns only 40% of the employees, what will happen to the rest?”

He added that it is parliamentary indecency for the government to include the three-year amendment and the measures for Thessaly in order to blackmail the opposition’s vote. “Our position is clear for three years, distinct from the ND, we submitted an amendment. We vote against the bill on principle”, he noted.

Mr. Androulakis’ strong criticism of the government also concerned the staff state, which, as he said, is weak, ineffective and corrupt, citing its inability to deal with the disasters in Thessaly. He repeated his proposal for a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of the area to be undertaken by a Task Force with working groups which will be controlled by the Parliament.

He also commented on Mr. Mitsotakis’ meeting with Tayyip Erdogan, in New York, saying that the Turkish president repeated the provocations for Cyprus and Mr. Mitsotakis for hours pretended not to hear them. He pointed out that in his speech yesterday at the UN General Assembly he did not mention the word Turkey anywhere, “as if the illegal invasion has no name. He cannot do that he does not see, does not hear what ErdoÄŸan defiantly utters. We are not allowed to pretend that we do not see or hear. Calm waters and a propagandizing Turkey do not go together. Unless Mitsotakis wants to imitate Konstantinos Karamanlis, who said that Cyprus is far away,” said the president of PASOK-KINAL.
