With the newly elected president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change recently spoke by phone, Nikos Androulakis.

Mr. Androulakis congratulated Mr. Kasselakis on his election and wished him success in his new duties.

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis earlier he also had a telephone conversation with the new president of SYRIZA. He congratulated him on his victory and invited him to meet in the next few days.

Earlier, the government representative Pavlos Marinakis, when asked at the political editors’ briefing about the victory of Stefanos Kasselakis in the internal party elections of SYRIZA, answered the following: “Since the morning there has been an attempt to communicate from the prime minister to the new president of SYRIZA. They have a phone appointment at 2 p.m. to congratulate him and invite him to a meeting. Let me also congratulate him and wish him good strength. I hope our country will finally have a serious and reliable official opposition. Our confrontation will be political. We hope it leaves the logic of toxicity. His pre-election association with exponents of toxic speech makes us have doubts. Major reforms and changes are proposed and voted on in parliament. The absence of the official opposition leader constitutes an institutional disadvantage. Be that as it may, the government’s job is to implement its program, listen to society and be effective for the good of the citizens.”
