THE Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Yiannis Oikonomourecently visited Police Departments and Squads in the center of Athens.
In particular, the Minister met and talked with police officers at A.T. Agios Panteleimonas and Omonia and with police squads in Harilaou Trikoupi and Monastiraki, which operate mainly at night. He talked with them, heard their experience, and congratulated them on their vigilance in order to preserve the safety of our fellow citizens. At the same time, the Minister had a useful exchange of views with residents and businessmen, to whom he mentioned the main objectives of the Government in the field of policing, while at the same time he carefully listened to their observations.
The intensification of policing, as well as the use of surveillance means, in the center and neighborhoods of Athens, are a clear priority for the Ministry of Citizen Protection.
Policing is immediately strengthened in terms of human resources, as, following the Prime Minister’s decision, police officers are transferred daily from other services to the field.
Consolidating the sense of security among the citizens of the capital is at the heart of the policy and new initiatives are constantly being developed in this direction.
