The message that “I have no desire to leave SYRIZA” was sent on Tuesday morning by Dimitris Vitsas, one of the three members of the party who were deleted by Stefanos Kasselakis on Monday night with his post on social media.

“My deletion is not a given. It should go to the Ethics Committee. There are 15 members. Two-thirds must vote in favor of deletion. We will go to the Central Committee and it should be ratified” added Mr. Vitsas speaking to ANT1.

As he said, Mr. Kasselakis had told me that he is more left-wing than me and I had told him “I wish”.

To the question of whether Kasselakis’ positions revealed by the publication of the Editors’ Journal had been noticed in SYRIZA, Mr. Vitsas replied that “several of us identified the issue in our statements, but it does not seem, however, that for 70,000 comrades this mattered” .

“It is the first time that someone who has in fact just become a member of the party is elected president,” commented Mr. Vitsas emphatically, citing that “to become a member of the ethics committee, one must be a member of the party for 5 years, but it takes zero time to become president and 2 euros to become a member and vote”.

Regarding the insinuations left by Stefanos Kasselakis about him in the deletion post, Mr. Vitsas meaningfully commented “these are heavy words that are said…”

In this context, he reminded that “we have before us statutory procedures” and that “I with Tsipras and some others set up SYRIZA and won the elections”.
