The meeting of the National Council for Adoption and Adoption (ESANY) was attended by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, emphasizing his contribution to the great effort to deinstitutionalize and strengthen the institution of adoption and adoption.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Undersecretary focused on three main areas, described the corresponding actions of the ministry, while asking the president of ESANY, general secretary of Social Solidarity and Anti-Poverty Council, George Stomatis the planning of new actions.
The three main axes that Mrs. Michailidou highlighted are the following:
“- The importance of emergency care, especially for abandoned infants, so that they can be directly connected with a foster family and transported from the hospital to the family, without the intermediate stage of stay in an institution. This will be helped by the more intensive effort to create local networks of contractors, but also the completion of individual family rehabilitation plans for children by the social services of hospitals.
– The strengthening, training, but also monitoring of the social advisors of the Regions, so that the control of the social structures is not formal, but essential in terms of the provision of quality social services to the beneficiaries of the structures.
– The creation of a new pioneering mechanism of sudden control of all structures of Welfare, which has already begun in collaboration with the National Transparency Authority (EAD) and the Ministries of Health and Justice. For the first time, mixed scales were created, with the participation of an EAD inspector and specialists in abuse of physicians, psychiatrists, medical examiners and social workers, who, in addition to administrative control, proceed to a thorough medical evaluation of each guest individually. The inspections have already been carried out in Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Crete and Mytilene. The conclusions that will be drawn will determine the new framework for effective control of the welfare structures of the country “, the announcement points out.
After the end of the meeting, Ms. Michailidou stated: “We strengthen the sponsorship in every way. It is the most essential mechanism we have in our hands, to get children out of institutions. We must have – and have – immediate reflexes, in order to ensure institutionally and operationally the protection of all children. That is why we all work together, each in turn, in order to reduce and, why not, at some point to zero the number of children living in institutions “.
