Vassilis Stigas was summoned at the beginning of September by the prosecution of the Supreme Court to give explanations for the reports from the floor of the parliament about behaviors “Greek Mafia” and “Don Corleone” referring to the members of the parliamentary group of the Spartans party.
As SKAI revealed before the prosecutor, Mr. Stigas said: “I received threats and insults from extra-institutional actors. The aim is to remove me from the leadership of the party. If the overthrow plan was implemented, MP Haris Katsivardas was intended as my successor.”
Regarding the members of his family he stated at another point:
“My daughter was scared by the threats and slander on social media. I received not only psychological pressure but also threatening phone calls and attacks on my offices and business.”
The president of the Spartans avoided talking about the role of Ilias Kasidiaris. However, he stated: “I don’t know who the threats were coming from, they intensified after the removal of the deputy Konstantinos Floros, who had voluntarily announced from the floor of the parliament the support of the Spartans in the candidacy of Kasidiaris for the municipality of Athens”.
What Mr. Stigas testified will be taken into account by the ethics committee of the Parliament, which will also decide to lift the immunity of the 11 members of the party.
