“The new tax on hundreds of thousands of freelancers and self-employed people announced by the government confirms once again the prime minister’s pre-election mockery of allegedly supporting the middle class and his bias in favor of the few and powerful”, the press representative of the prime minister underlines in her statement SYRIZA-PS, Gifts Augeri.

“By imposing a new tax in place of the distribution tax, the ND burdens hundreds of thousands of middle- and lower-class freelancers and self-employed people. The first estimates, before the final provisions of the law are formulated, show that 473,000 taxpayers will be burdened with 1,444 euros on average annually”, he notes, commenting that it is “the same government that refuses to take effective measures to combat smuggling and combat tax evasion, while, despite his persistent pressure SYRIZA– PS, has refused for a year to impose real taxation on the super profits of the energy giants, which “hoard” on the backs of citizens, with a state subsidy”.

“It is the ND government that is systematically mocking the people, with the government representative dismissing the Deputy Minister of Finance Haris Theoharis a few days ago, when the latter had announced the increase in tax rates for the self-employed and Mr. Marinakis then spoke of ” personal opinion” of the deputy minister”, he adds and emphasizes:

“SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, firmly oriented towards the support of the lower classes and the middle class, insists on the proposals it had submitted before the elections: tax-free income for everyone at 10,000 euros, abolition of the pretense fee, brave settlement of tax and insurance debts funds with cancellation of part of the basic debt and 120 installments, but also establishment Special Professional Accountso as to avoid confiscations and freezing of deposits of small and very small businesses”.

“Mr. Mitsotakis to immediately withdraw the pre-announcement of the new tax on freelancers and the self-employed”, concludes D. Augeri in her statement.
