Mr. Kasselakis requested the establishment of a new financial tool for climate crisis disasters
With the Commissioner for Economy and former Prime Minister of Italy, Paolo Gentilonithe president of SYRIZA-PS met, Stefanos Kasselakis a while ago at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels.
In the meeting with the European commissioner, the president of SYRIZA-PS touched on three points:
- Regarding the revision of the Stability Pact, he emphasized that the Commission’s proposal is in a positive direction and we support it. Instead of giving half-hearted speeches, the government should actively support it.
- At the same time, he emphasized the support for the increase in funds for migration and civil protection and especially the establishment of a new financial tool for the disasters resulting from the climate crisis in terms of covering damages and losses
- At the same time, he supported the importance of permanent institutionalization of the Recovery Fund. Unfortunately, as it was revealed, the Fund mainly benefits large companies. The dynamic small and medium enterprises that are left out of the green and digital transition are not sufficiently supported, nor the social and housing policy as in Portugal, while 4% of the funding goes to health with the average in the EU being 10%.
