He talked about all the current affairs on his show today “Mismatched” and to journalists Christos Koutras and Yiannis Dsounos, the press representative of New Democracy Nikos Romanos.

Referring to the economy, Mr. Romanos pointed out: “We are not reviewing the tax exemptions, there is no governmental intention in this direction. We have a clear identity as a Government, we are a Government of tax reductions, we are a government that recently reduced over 50 taxes and we are the government that just recently passed the new tax exemption to increase the tax-free limit by 1,000 euros for each child. So, our position is very clear, the direction in which we are moving is very clear and the results that this economic policy brings are also very clear and tangible. Results which are very positive for development and for the economy and for the image of the country”.

And he went on to say: “Since we’re talking about Mr. Stournaras, let me point out something else interesting that he said yesterday, he referred to the 3.7 billion euros a year, which the citizens actually save, in essence, through the tax cuts that we’ve brought and it is connected to the previous discussion and to what I mentioned to you about the direction in which we are moving steadily both in the previous four years and in the new four years. The tax reductions will continue and the tax exemptions will not stop. This is also linked to increasing tax compliance, which is also a key objective.”

On the biggest problem facing society, which is accuracy, Mr ND press representative he said: “I think it is necessary for the country to have a strong creative, positive official opposition, and to speak more specifically, I hear criticism about too much from the opposition, for example accuracy, the number one issue. Have you heard a counter-proposal from the official opposition to be exact, beyond the reduction of indirect taxes that they have been saying since before the elections and all the countries that have done it are trying to take it back now because they deemed it ineffective? I haven’t heard anything else. They are now criticizing the initiative to cut 5% on over 600 items as we speak (300 of them went into the basket after the big fines that came down last week). Have you heard a counter proposal? Nice review. Have we heard a counter proposal? Their main pre-election argument was why don’t you do what other countries are doing, by flagging the VAT reduction. This failed in the other countries, which were brought to us as an example. And what is done here, which brings results, they nullify and do not make any counter proposal”.
