In spreading the blame for the tragedy at Tempe leads, according to PASOKthe rationale of the KKE’s proposal for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry, which was accepted by the government through the mouth of government representative Pavlos Marinakis.

PASOK’s announcement in more detail:

“PASOK – Movement for Change has already announced, with a statement by President Nikos Androulakis after the meeting with relatives of the victims of the Tempe tragedy, that it will proceed to file a request for the establishment of a preliminary investigation committee in the Hellenic Parliament, in order to investigate any criminal responsibilities of the authorities, who referred the 717 contract for the installation of remote control to the Greek calendars.

The controversial contract, which concerns the signaling and remote control of the railway with European funds amounting to 54 million euros, should have been completed in 2016. However, it received successive extensions under the SYRIZA and New Democracy governments, resulting in the trains moving blindly.

The proposal for the establishment of a commission of inquiry, submitted by the KKE, both with its reasoning and with this, it is clear that it leads to the diffusion of responsibilities, undermining the need for immediate and priority investigation and attribution of potential criminal responsibilities, even specifying the scope of research since as far back as 1997.

For this reason, New Democracy seized the opportunity by rushing through the government representative to declare that it will vote for it.
PASOK – Movement for Change cannot take part in this collusion to cover up potential criminal responsibilities and calls on the other parties to vote in favor of its proposal for the establishment of a preliminary investigation committee. We do not give an escape route to political figures, for whose responsibilities there is a conclusion of the European Prosecutor.
