Controversy between New Democracy and PASOK over the train tragedy in Tempi, but also over the Sanchez government in Spain, took place on Friday.

“We really fail to understand the logical acrobatics of the government representative” commented the PASOK-Change Movement referring to statements of the government representative to SKAI.

As Mr. Marinakis characteristically said about Tempi, “there is no cover-up, quite the opposite. The Government accepted a proposal for a discussion on the pathogens from 1997 onwards, a substantive discussion with a process that runs parallel to the Justice. Mr. Androulakis, who is very sensitive to the institutions and the Rule of Law, we expect him to make a comment, to make a statement about what happened in Spain, that the socialist Sanchez became Prime Minister again with an agreement with eight parties, one of which the Catalan party. And you know what the deal was? There should be amnesty, immunity, for the acts that have been committed in 2017, for those who committed them for the referendum. Think, then, how Mr. Androulakis would deal with this, who constantly appears as an honorer of the Rule of Law. So, we are waiting for Mr. Androulakis to comment on the developments in Spain, to see if he will be placed there or if he is sensitive a la carte”.

PASOK’s comment

“Mr. Marinakis also confessed today that the government consciously chose to spread the blame for the railway tragedy in Tempi through a general discussion about the history of the railway from 1997, at the same time that the Minister of State, Makis Voridis, was taking out in advance conclusion that there are no criminal responsibilities and therefore New Democracy will vote against the pre-investigation committee based on the case file of the European Prosecutor” emphasizes Harilaou Trikoupi.

He also criticized Mr. Marinaki’s report on the new government of Spain. “By referring to the Spanish government, is the government spokesman questioning its democratic legitimacy under Prime Minister Sanchez? Does the Greek Prime Minister agree with his representative? Is this his official position for the country’s government, which presides over the EU Council this semester?”, notes PASOK- Movement for Change.

The answer Marinaki

“The president of PASOK, through his Press Office, chose, instead of answering the question we put to him, to defend himself by attacking,” says government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis in response to a statement by the PASOK Press Office.

And he points out: “If today they discovered in PASOK the reactions to the new government in Spain, both inside the country and in the rest of Europe, we give them time to be informed. If they just don’t want to answer, they have every right, but that doesn’t mean they can twist what we said, using phrases and terms that were never used by us.”
