The proposals of PASOK-Movement for Change and SYRIZA-PS to establish a preliminary investigation committee for the case of the “717” contract (responsibilities of ministers regarding the contract to upgrade the remote control system) were rejected by the plenary session of the Parliament, after a meeting of more than 15 hours of the Athens-Thessaloniki-Promahona railway axis).

PASOK’s proposal was directed against the former Ministers of Transport & Infrastructure, Chr. Spirtzis and K. Ah. Karamanlis respectively, while the SYRIZA proposal was directed against the former Ministers of Transport and Infrastructure K. Ah. Karamanli, K. Hatzidaki, M. Chrysochoidis and Chr. Spirtzis.

According to the Rules of the Parliament, the person against whom the motion for prosecution was directed did not participate in the vote (which concerned him).

In order to make a decision, an absolute majority of all the deputies was required.
