The final meeting will be held over the weekend to determine the final name
By Antonis Anzoletou
The “birthdays” will take place on Monday night. The new parliamentary group of “11” will take on “flesh and bones” and everything in the Parliament and on the Left will be different.
During the weekend, the final meeting will take place in order, as the staff group claims, to determine the final name. Whether new, modern, ecological or renewing Left with their venture the five of Alexis GraceEfis AhtsioglouNassau IliopoulosDimitris Tzanakopoulou and Euclid Tsakalotou they wish to insert a “wedge” into the existing political scene.
The polls say approx half of those who voted for SYRIZA in the last national elections it is dissatisfied from the leadership of Stefanos Kasselakis. And since the “snapshot” captures the truth, the new caucus looks like it has a good base to start from.
From Koumoundourou they argue that the completion of introversion combined with the rich actions of SYRIZA in the next period will change the image.
In the “camp” of “11” they consider that their former “roof” policy is not the only one “tank» from which they will draw voters. Their presence, they believe, is capable of stopping the leaks recorded towards it PASOK and KKEwhile their goal is also the repatriation of the party’s disappointed voters.
What do the numbers say?
In other times and under completely different conditions in September 2015 SYRIZA 1,926,526 voters trusted. In July 2019, the party, under great pressure due to government attrition, maintained its momentum, as 1,781,057 citizens supported it. The big losses were recorded this year in June, as 930,013 of its voters came to the polls for SYRIZA. About 600,000 turned their backs on the ruling left and the entire political landscape went up in flames.
The official opposition seems to be consolidating in third place according to polls, and this is Koumoundourou’s big headache at the moment. Strong bipartisanship once again after 2009 appears to be a thing of the past. This time the New Democracy is the absolute ruler of the game and due to the “scissors” from the second – which is now PASOK – it seems not to be threatened. Based on today’s data, everyone claims that for the center-left, the European elections will be the turning point for developments.
The first crash test for ex-partners it will constitute the tax bill which is introduced on Wednesday in the Plenary and will be voted on on Thursday. They will measure their strength and to a large extent their presence in the Parliament will overshadow even the government-opposition conflict. Their opponent will be the majority, it is a fact, but both camps will try to win impressions.
