“It is a national success because for many years we were in restrictive fiscal policies, with many problems. The fact that the Greek economy can now be upgraded, that more investments are attracted, that the income of the Greeks increases and that the Greek family prospers from this, is a huge achievement. Greek tourism contributed the most to the economy”, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, told SKAI and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias, on the occasion of the upgrade of the Greek economy by the investment house Fitch.

“Given the possibility to the Greek government, distortions or injustices that existed in the past, for people who have worked all their lives, they had to slowly begin to see that what they had lost during the years of the crisis is returned,” he added.

Referring to the changes in criminal law related to arson, Mr. Kikilias emphasized: “We can no longer leave our country, properties and especially human lives in the hands of the few, against the well-being and safety of the many. The bill is aimed at prevention and the safety of citizens. One of the measures is the digital platform on which citizens will declare whether they have cleaned their houses or plots. If they have not cleaned them there will be control and consequences. We will not endanger people’s lives.

“I want to congratulate George Floridis because for many years in Greek society there was a feeling of non-punishment of those responsible. The feeling of impunity ceases to exist and trials will be expedited,” he added.

Regarding the changes coming to 112, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection stated that “with 112 we can have a preventive curfew, parents can be informed about whether their children will go to school, about shift work or working from home if some concerts or events have to be postponed due to extreme weather. There are preventive arrangements that protect society from extreme weather events.”

“When we have a fire danger situation and some people continue to be negligent and barbecue in the forest or smoke their beehives or do earthworks and it leads to ecological destruction, loss of life, negligence becomes a felony and the minimum sentence is 10 years and fines reach 50,000 euros,” he added.
