“The late and pretentious resignation of Mr. Pleuris proves the attempt to cover up again”, they emphasize in their joint statement the rapporteur of SYRIZA-PS to the Commission of Inquiry for the crime of the Tempos Vassilis Kokkalis and the members of the Committee Yannis Sarakiotis, Alexandros Avlonitis and Dionysis Kalamatianos after the voluntary departure of Thanos Pleuris from the Investigation Committee.

Specifically in their statement they state: “Today’s statement of abstention by the member and rapporteur of the majority of the ND in the Commission of Inquiry, for the investigation of the Tempe accident and every aspect of it, Mr. Pleuris, is late, pretentious and demonstrates once again the political dishonesty of the former Minister of Health of the Government of the ND”.

They further argue: “While he and the members of the majority knew that his participation in the commission of inquiry creates certainty of bias and a lack of objectivity and trust of public opinion and the relatives of the victims in the work of the commission of inquiry, since he was one of the persons who participated in the coordinating body, which decided to alter the data after the accident, so he was from the beginning a person whose actions are under verification and investigation. However, until today, he defiantly and dishonestly sought to be both a member and rapporteur of the majority in the investigation committee, proving that the work he had undertaken from the beginning was the cover-up, both immediately after the accident, by altering data, and within of parliament”.

In closing they state: “His resignation today was not a conscious free decision, but a coercive action, in which he was incited, because the ND was trapped in faithfully following the opinion of the scientific council and in the previous expulsion of the president of Plefsis Eleftheria”.
