“At the same time we will also discuss the revision of the multiannual financial framework so that we can ensure additional resources for critical political priorities of the European Union. I want to emphasize the need to increase the resources for its management immigrant problem” he added.
“It is a given that when the funding decisions were made, in the context of the previous multi-year public framework, the decisions we took three years ago, we did not take into account the increase in migratory pressures and the need to allocate more resources to the protection of the external borders of Union. So since the European Union at the level of the European Council has moved in this direction it is absolutely necessary to add resources to protect the EU’s exceptional borders and I am moderately optimistic that we will be able to take steps in this direction” said Mr. Mitsotakis.
“It is also very important that we add further resources to deal with its impact climate crisis and Greece has always been one of the promoters of the effort to make all European countries believe that we need more resources, more money to deal with the effects of the climate crisis.
We will have the opportunity to discuss them as well developments in the Middle East and I want to believe that we will be able to reach conclusions, which reflect on the one hand the European Union’s firm position that Israel has the right to self-defense, but on the other hand we also express our growing concern for the significant civilian losses in the Gaza Strip.
It is very important for the European Union to be able to formulate a common position on an issue that concerns our immediate neighborhood, concerns the stability of the eastern Mediterranean”
