In the wake of yesterday’s reactions to the amendment filed yesterday that provides for the connection of work and residence of irregular immigrants, Adonis Georgiadis returns to the issue with his post, stating that the amendment attempts to bring order to an existing reality.

In particular, Mr. Georgiadis stated that “this amendment, in my opinion, tries to bring order to an existing reality that each of us is unlikely to have encountered in our social environment. Illegal immigrants living and working illegally with black and uninsured work and some of them claiming that if they had the opportunity they would be insured and work legally. In times of such a great labor shortage for me as Minister of Labor this is a mistake and a luxury. However, this does not mean that I do not understand and do not respect the genuine concerns of my fellow citizens about its impact on the Immigration issue itself. So let’s discuss it in good faith.”

The post of the Minister of Labor in detail:

“I always liked the free serious dialogue with arguments and I still like it. Social media could contribute to him if it didn’t have toxicity and shouting. Of the many comments I have received about the disputed provision – most of them negative, I admit, but I expected it -, I am also showing you one of the many positives that describes both the problem that exists and the expectation that it creates and for which we proposed it” , says Adonis Georgiadis in his post.

“I am committed to personally responding to any comments you make if they are well-worded and express bona fide concerns. I do not hide, because I have never hidden about my political decisions, on the contrary, I consider it my duty as a politician to explain to the Common Opinion why I take one or the other decision. We are not tyrants but democratically elected politicians and in the end we only give you a say and you have the right and the ability to terminate us if you think we are not doing our job properly. But on the other hand, the politician is not the one who only makes easy and popular decisions, but does what he considers right for his country. We can make mistakes but don’t question our intentions”, the minister underlines.

“Needless to say, any insulting, ironic or cheap comment about havale, will be deleted and its sender will be blocked, because they are the ones who cancel with their behavior the enormous potential of the medium for real and fruitful dialogue. Good morning and Merry Christmas”, concludes Mr. Georgiadis.
