Regarding the announcement by Mr. Mitsotakis for a 20% increase in emergency services while the National Health System is collapsing, PASOK commented that “it is a crumb and a mockery
The PASOK-Movement of Change commented decisively and responded to the accusation leveled by K. Mitsotakis that it is responsible for the bankruptcy of the country and not the ND during the Prime Minister’s speech in the Parliament, on the budget.
“We remind Mr. Prime Minister that PASOK took over from the Karamanlis government a bankrupt country with terrifying twin deficits, especially the current account deficit that was the highest in the world,” PASOK said in its comment and added: “If in 2010 the MPs of PASOK had voted as he did, the investment grade would be a midsummer night’s dream and today we would measure the budget in drachmas”.
Also, PASOK did not leave unanswered the criticism for its proposal for the EKAS for 350,000 low-pensioners, noting that “the callousness of Mr. Mitsotakis, who prefers to hold thousands of our weak fellow citizens hostage, instead of making structured institutional interventions, is well known.” “We know exactly how much it costs. “Does he himself know how much the direct assignments of 5 billion euros and the provocative tax breaks for the few and powerful cost the Greek people?”, he pointed out.
And as regards the announcement by Mr. Mitsotakis for a 20% increase in on-calls while the National Health System is collapsing, PASOK commented that “it is a crumb and a mockery, when Greek doctors and health workers are among the lowest paid in all of Europe, while raises for non-merit-appointed commanders approach 45% of base salary even allowing for productivity bonuses.”
