“We clearly support the amendment even though it is sketchy, incomplete and without safeguards because we want there to be workers and for these people to have full labor and human rights.”

This was emphasized by the parliamentary representative of SYRIZA-PS, Dionysis Kalamatianos, referring to the amendment for foreign workers that has been submitted to the Ministry of Labor bill “Reform of professional insurance, rationalization of insurance legislation, pension arrangements, appointment and recruitment system of public service teachers employment and other provisions”.

Addressing the Minister of Labor Adonis Georgiadis, Mr. Kaklamatianos said that “today we enjoy the way you adopt our arguments – although we have been telling you for years but unfortunately you did not listen to them – to counter Mr. Samaras and the other ND MPs who are reacting to the amendment you are bringing for the land workers”.

The SYRIZA-PS parliamentary representative accused Mr. Georgiadis that “you personally did everything in the past period to expel foreign land workers as you tightened the framework, made the transfer process more difficult and thus created an impasse, that’s why they turned and they went to other countries”

“The other countries, in order to attract foreign land workers, give them permission to stay, work and connect with their families,” said Mr. Kalamatianos and added:

“But you don’t foresee these things. Instead you call them illegal immigrants and expel them. This shows how hypocritical your attitude is.”
