The aim of the new network of Advanced Care Units, which will cover all Health Regions, is the timely, specialized and comprehensive care of stroke patients
The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the “Attikon” University General Hospitalwhere one of the first two of the 19 Advanced Care Units for patients with stroke in the National Health System has been set up.
The newly established ICU currently has six beds with the prospect of increasing, it is staffed by specialized neurologists and nurses and the procedures to be certified by the European Stroke Organization have been launched.
The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by the Minister of Health Michalis Chrysochoidis and the Deputy Minister Mario Themistocleouswas informed by the director of the Unit, Professor of Neurology George Tsivgoulisabout its capabilities and the innovations it introduces in patient care, while he talked and exchanged wishes with the Unit’s staff.

It is estimated that at least 7,500 cases will be treated in the 19 units per year, significantly reducing both mortality and the consequences of vascular events on patient mobility.
