Meeting with the President of the Republic at the Presidential Palace, as part of the regular monthly updates
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has today a meeting with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace, as part of the regular monthly briefings.
In front of the cameras, the PtD and the prime minister exchanged wishes for the new year while Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about the latest developments in the country.
“We are now at the end of a difficult time with many challenges. The time closes with positive news about the course of our economy, with a typical example being the Economist, which recognizes the efforts of the Greek people” said the Prime Minister
On private universities: “We approved in the cabinet a historic reform that I believe will be supported by the majority of society. It comes with even bolder changes for the public university. The standards will be extremely high. We want a substantial change in this area.”
“The government as a whole is on a trajectory of significant changes. We will have the first increases in pensioners. The checks carried out on the market will continue with undiminished intensity.”
The prime minister also spoke about bank fines, congratulating the competition commission “for a high fine they have imposed”. As he said, 2024 will be an important year for the political and state history of the country and it should find us in a better situation.”
For her part, the president said that “the biggest bet remains accuracy. The message should be given that the control mechanisms are working”.
