Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis gave clarifications on the colored electricity tariffs that come into force from the New Year. Speaking to ERT, Mr. Skylakakis said, “from January 1 they will have much better tariffs than November 1 despite the fact that the subsidies stop.”

The Minister of Environment and Energy stated that “the best guarantee that there are no collusions is for the people to know the prices and for the first time they will know the prices on the first of the month, i.e. after the New Year” while he added referring to the green tariff that “the great advantage that you know the prices 1st of the month, 2nd of the month”. He further added that “it’s what you know and you can compare afterwards. Based on the green you can move towards either blue or yellow depending on your preferences, but you will move without anyone being able to mislead you.”

“The first of January is a happy occasion. Looks like the invoices are going well. The price of pollutants which is around 76-75 euros today – it was 25 before the crisis – this will not change therefore we have a permanent characteristic of increase. When will the cost of the price of pollutants be limited for us? The more renewables come in” he said while closing he noted that “this is the first time that (the world) should not be stressed because with the green it will have good prices. He will also see his provider[…] You may also see very attractive offers in blue” he further underlined.

It is noted that from January 1, applications for the new will begin social tariff for many children.
