The message of the president of SYRIZA for the new year
The president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, sent his own message for the new year.
As he points out in his message, 2023 was a difficult year with wars while “for Greece, 2023 was a year with a lot of sadness” as he points out.
However, he wishes the new year to bring peace and “a better life for all citizens” of Greece.

“2023 was a difficult year.
The war in Ukraine is raging, and a second war, in Gaza, is already claiming thousands of victims – children, women, civilians.
So in 2024, the call for peace is as urgent as ever.
But not with wishes, with actions: with an immediate ceasefire and a viable two-state solution.
For Greece, 2023 was a year with a lot of sadness. From the heinous crime in Tempe and the massive floods, to deaths on trolleys and outside the stadiums.
Tomorrow lost a battle, but it didn’t lose its fighting spirit.
And in front of us in 2024 we have a critical year.
For Greece, the obvious is the difficult: A better life for all citizens.
A life of dignity and not market passes.
A life with a strong social welfare state and not with the law of the strongest.
A life with democratic institutions that work, with quality health and education, with concern for the environment and resources for climate adaptation.
In solidarity.
With humanity.
With truth.
Stubbornly and with strength.
For a Greece that will utilize the great potential of the Greek people and will give every Greek citizen opportunities and security to succeed.
Throughout Hellenism, inside and outside Greece,
In every part of the globe that beats the heart of this proud nation,
To you, your families, your people,
I hope 2024 will be the year that brings you closer to your dreams.”
