The promotion of the everyday life of the citizens as a basic and non-negotiable priority of the government during the second term of government also seems to have weighed heavily on the “scales” of the mini-reformation and the corrective actions that the prime minister took only on the third twenty hour of the new year. A reshuffle, which with its announcement, also photographed the central axis that “triggered” all the ministerial changes and “crashes” and was characterized as a “reshuffle of the protection of the citizen”.

Megaros Maximos, having received the results of the measurements throughout the previous period, which in the majority of them highlighted with high percentages the issue of security and crime, as one of the most important problems that concern the Greeks, estimated that action must be taken.

According to government sources, what is described as an escalation of all forms of violence, had to be dealt with in the proper way, looking for the “answer” in the experience, in this case of the new Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis. His return to the Katehaki building for the fifth time, in his government journey, shows – according to the same sources – that the aim is now to take on an operational Minister, with experience and recorded successes from the specific government post. Clearly, government officials also commented that the change of persons in itself may not be enough, but it is taken for granted that after the baton change between persons, there will also be changes in the doctrine that governs the operation of the police force both operationally and in administrative level.

Government sources commented that the prime minister, as he has shown in all the previous years, when he judges, proceeds with corrective actions in order to strengthen the effectiveness of government work. And in this case, he acted immediately and decisively to have a more dynamic start to the new year in critical areas.

In any case, the message sent by this “instant” decision of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is clear and concerns the entire Council of Ministers and not only those “involved” in the corrective changes. “Trouble can’t wait.” In this light, it is estimated that the prime minister also made the specific choices of the mini-reformation, placing in the key “social” Ministries that changed the baton, experienced persons who know the respective areas and their problems.

Because, in addition to Michalis Chrysochoidis, who assumed for the fifth time the Minister of Citizen Protection, Adonis Georgiadis is also returning to “known lairs”, who takes over the position of Mr. Chrysochoidis, the duties of the Minister of Health. A position that he managed during the difficult times of the memorandum adjustment under Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and it is estimated that he will not need time either for “apprenticeship” or for experimentation, as commented by government sources as it was for a Minister with reform experience, in order to advance the reforms that have already started in the previous months in the critical health sector.

Correspondingly, the choice of Domna Michailidou, who was upgraded from Deputy Minister of Education, taking over the duties of Adonis Georgiadis, as Minister of Labor and Social Security until yesterday. Ministry in which he had served successfully – as it was judged – during the previous term of the ND government, as Deputy Minister.

The new government “puzzle” was completed by two new persons who took up positions in the cabinet for the first time and plans for the MP of Ilias Andreas Nikolakopoulos, who succeeded the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection Kostas Katsafados, who remained outside the government structure and the State MP Ioanna Lytrivi, who succeeds Domna Michailidou as Deputy Minister of Education.

In addition, the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, also an executive from the new generation, is promoted to Deputy Minister instead of Prime Minister and, along with representing the government, also assumes the responsibilities of the press.

Government sources commented that the prime minister, as he has shown in all previous years, when he makes judgments, proceeds with corrective actions in order to strengthen the effectiveness of government work. And in this case, he acted immediately and decisively to have a more dynamic start to the new year in critical areas.

The swearing in of the new Ministers and Deputy Ministers before the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou will take place today at six in the afternoon.
