On Wednesday, it is expected to officially start the dialogue regarding the bill on the marriage and procreation of same-sex couples, as the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will grant an interview to the state channel, in order to define the general framework of the provisions that will come to Parliament for voting.

According to information, the public debate on the specific bill will last a few weeks, as at the end of February, at the latest at the beginning of March, the bill is expected to be put to a vote in the Parliament.

The reactions to marriage and especially to procreation mainly come from MPs and even ministers of the government faction, which makes the discussion even more difficult, at the same time that public opinion is also divided, as shown by all recent opinion polls .

According to information, the prime minister on Wednesday is expected to announce his intention to promote adoption, in the form of adoption, but not surrogate motherhood, as this is a provision that causes more general reactions and objections.

The reactions within New Democracy, even within the ministerial structure, are significant, as, among other things, their objection has been publicly expressed by both the former prime minister, Mr. Samaras, as well as Mr. Mitarakis, Plevris, Karagounis, Voridis, Katsaniotis and Lazaridis.

So, in order to appease the reactions, discussions have already started with the ministers and MPs who react to the marriage and procreation of same-sex couples. The difficult mission of the “political massage” has been undertaken by Mr. Bratakos and Mrs. Syringela, in order to limit the losses during the voting to the maximum extent possible Bill.

Contacts are expected to be made with the Archdiocese as well, without, however, for the time being, an appointment between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Archbishop Hieronymos.
