Its members cabinet have an increased obligation the director of the prime minister’s press office emphasized to SKAI and the show Today, Dimitris Tsiodras regarding the same-sex couples bill.

“They are members of a collective body. Many of them are MPssome are not, but when you have a collective body obviously you have an increased obligation against someone who does not participate” noted Mr. Tsiodras about the passing of the bill.

It is noted that Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during the interview he gave to ERT, announced that he will not raise the issue of party discipline to the MPs in view of the submission of the bill.

Mr. Tsiodras clarified that the bill will be submitted to the Parliament in due time based on the public debate started on a more organized basis. It is, he said, a balanced proposal. 1st, the right to – civil – marriage is recognized, 2nd, the rights of children living in same-sex couples are recognized, which should not be discriminated against other children, regarding a small portion of others about their lives and the lives of their children. Much will be clarified with the public debate.

“The Church is not in favor of civil marriage, not only for same-sex couples but not even for heterosexuals,” he reminded.

“The bill comes today because societies are moving forward, and some things have to be done. In 1982 adultery was considered a crime and civil marriage was not allowed. We need to talk calmly” he pointed out.

Mr. Tsiodras emphasized that the discussion concerns the rights of some of our fellow human beings which must be put into practice.

He reiterated that surrogate children will not be able to be born. He noted what Mr. Kasselakis had said that “I am ordering two children, one of which will be one way or another… the woman cannot be used as a reproductive vessel”.
