The government is already taking and will continue to take a series of measures to support agricultural income, said government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou, responding to Alexis Tsipras and what he said from Argolida about the difficulties faced by farmers.
The statement of Mr. Economos is as follows:
“Despite the difficult international environment and the successive crises, the Government has already taken and will continue to take a number of practical measures to support agricultural income and facilitate the primary sector. Indicative:
• Through the repayable advance measure and other COVID measures, about 300 million euros have been given, while an additional 195 million have been allocated through the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure for the targeted support of specific sectors from the pandemic.
• Return of the EFK of diesel to young farmers, farmers-members of cooperatives and contract farming for 2022.
• Coverage of 80% of the adjustment clause in the electricity tariffs for agricultural use for the period from August to December 2021 and coverage of a significant part of the increase in electricity for farmers from now on.
• Permanent reduction of VAT on fertilizers from 13% to 6%.
• Permanent reduction of feed VAT from 13% to 6%, from October 1, 2021.
• Faster compensations from ELGA compared to any other period.
• Extensive controls to deal with the Hellenization of products and food adulteration.
We fully understand the difficulties faced by farmers and stockbreeders and believe in the value of primary production.
That is why at a time when Mr. Tsipras monotonously repeats his thousand-word clichés about elections, entanglement and interests of the powerful, we prove our respect to the rural world both by telling the truth and by actions that produce results “.
