The Ministry of Defense, apart from the part that concerns the equipment of the country, at the same time gives special importance to the daily life of our executives, especially in the remote areas, who fight daily under difficult conditions in an area with all the geopolitical problems we know. This was stressed by the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Nikos Hardaliastoday, from Chiosas part of a four-day tour of the headquarters, units and surveillance outposts of the navy and her air forceon its islands Eastern Aegean.
“In any case,” he added, “I think the outcome of the meetings (with members of the Armed Forces and local authorities and agencies) has a very positive sign.”
“Only respect and gratitude for the effort made by our executives throughout the country and especially here at the ends of the Aegean and the homeland,” underlined N. Hardalias.
Today, the Undersecretary of National Defense first visited Lesvos. Specifically, he went to the headquarters of the 98th Senior Command of the National Guard Battalions, the “Provoskida” surveillance post and the Naval Observatory of Agrielia, Lesvos, where he was informed by their administrations about their mission, main projects and current activities.
He also visited the gunboat “Warrior” that is chartering at the port of the island. During the visit he was guided to the main compartments of the ship and talked to the crew.
Next stops were Psara and the small islet of Panagia, where the Undersecretary of National Defense visited the homonymous watchtowers. Also, during his visits to the two remote islands, he met with the mayors of Psara, Konstantinos Vratsanos and Oinousses, Georgios Daniel. In Chios, the Deputy Minister of National Defense visited the headquarters of the 96th Senior Command of the National Guard Battalions, where he was informed about the history, the mission, the main projects and the current operational – educational activities of the formation.
It was preceded by a visit by N. Hardalias to the helicopter guard posts of the Army and the Air Force, at the island’s airport, where he talked to the pilots and the technical staff.
The Deputy Minister of National Defense was accompanied by the Commander of the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Flaris.
