Let’s deal with the mess that was being made with public property, emphasizes the Minister of National Economy and Finance
The legislative initiatives promoted by the government for the utilization of public property in coastal areas were presented on social media by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis.
In a related video posted on TikTok, Mr. Hatzidakis states:
“Remember the ‘towel movement’ last summer at the beaches?
People were right about most of it.
With the mess that was being made with public property in the coastal areas.
And now let’s face it!
What are the key changes?
1. We are introducing “Cheating Beaches” in Natura areas, where no umbrella seats will be allowed at all.
2. From now on, all beach concession tenders will be done electronically and centrally by the Ministry of Finance, to proceed quickly and transparently.
3. Obligations are increasing for those who lease beaches. Eg regular cleaning, showers, access to our fellow citizens with disabilities.
4. Utilization of new technologies: Drones for the State to control violations, but also a special mobile app for citizens to submit their complaints electronically.
5. Strict and organized controls, with stiff fines and the sealing of businesses that violate the law”.
In closing, Mr. Hatzidakis invites the citizens to “Let’s all go to a beach together! With Aunt Leah, in a bathing suit and in peace!”
