We still haven’t seen the bill on same-sex couples, let’s not rush, said SYRIZA’s KO director George Tsipras speaking to SKAI and the “Today” show.

He added that SYRIZA has its own proposal for a law otherwise he added “there may be concerns”.

“I too have concerns about surrogacy,” he said.

He noted that there are gaps from the Mitsotakis interview and added that the prime minister is “twisting the engagement” by asking dissenters to abstain and not vote against the bill.

“We do not have such an attitude. There is no MP who does not support equality before the law. We are talking about human rights. Don’t be in a hurry,” he said, while he then added that he, like perhaps other members of parliament, is worried about the issue of surrogacy even in the existing legal framework.

“We are a bit of a fugitive as a country on this issue,” he said, explaining that in other countries, very progressive in terms of rights and equality, surrogacy is prohibited. “Are we more advanced?” he said.

For working meeting in Spetses he said he would go and predicted that there would be no leaks unless there were objective reasons.

“It will be an efficient meeting,” he said.
