Nikos Tsoukalis passed away on Thursday night at the age of 67 and a few days before his birthday.

Having fought a brave battle with cancer, the distinguished member of the Renewing Left with the personal political stigma, morals and modesty of an eternal teenager, left for the long journey, spreading immense sadness to his family, fellow competitors and friends.

Nikos Tsoukalis was born in Patras in 1957. He studied at the Thessaloniki Law School from where he graduated in 1981. He was a member of the Board of Directors. of the student association of the Law School of Thessaloniki (1978-1979). He practiced as a lawyer in Patras from 1983 until his election as a Member of Parliament (2007). He was a member of KKE (1974-1978), KKE es (1983-1986), EAP (1986-1989) and SYN until today. Co-founder of the Ecological Movement of Patras and its active member, from 1986 until today. Member of the “Hellenic Union for Human Rights”.

He was a candidate for Achaia MP in the elections of 1996 and 2004, as well as a candidate for Prefect as head of the combination “Achaean Commonwealth” in the Prefectural elections of 1998, 2002 and 2004. He was a Prefectural councilor from 1998 until 2007, when he was elected deputy of Achaia of the Radical Left Coalition.
