The three-day work of the SYRIZA PS committee in Spetses has ended. The working meeting, which was held behind closed doors and took place entirely at the home of the party president, Stefanos Kasselakis, was originally scheduled to be completed by Saturday night. However, it continued until today at noon as the list of presentations/introductions from all department heads had not been exhausted.

In statements after the completion of the work, the president of the SYRIZA PS Committee, Sokratis Famellos, spoke of a dense political discussion of at least 20 hours of work, with 30 positions, noting that “the main subject of the meeting of the Committee was the proposals that will be presented by SYRIZA for the well-being of Greek society, for better income, better jobs, better environment, better children, better health.

“It combines the KO meeting with the processing of positions for the SYRIZA congress, the relaunch and reconstruction of SYRIZA,” he added. He emphasized that “there are many needs of Greek society and we see that the government cannot serve them. We have an oligopolistic market that operates with profiteering and distortions, we have serious problems in the environment, in education and in health.” Mr. Famellos said that “every person in Greece needs to be able to claim their dream with the same rights and the same opportunities. And that’s why we need sustainable development with social justice and a democratic just society.” He underlined that “this is exactly the proposal of SYRIZA, a strong state, a humane and modern state that will have a plan for development, for public administration, the environment, but also a strong rule of law that will have the European acquis in the country us and there will be independent authorities and institutions”. He added that the main message is that “there is a political proposal, there is a way out for Greece and we need a new social agreement that will include the green transition, but also the rule of law and justice. Finally, he mentioned that the president of SYRIZA and all the executives who were here note that the greatest value is that of peace and life.

The secretary of the KO, Theodora Tzakri, stated that “one of the most qualitative and productive working meetings of our parliamentary group was completed with absolute success.” “We coordinated not only all of our opposition work, but also our planning to face the most anti-social Mitsotakis government, in matters of accuracy and the economy in general, in matters of security and the everyday life of the citizen,” he said in particular. He noted that “we are moving forward more coordinated and more united.” On the question of whether this will be repeated, Ms. Tzakri said that “Spetses attracted interest not because of some bureaucratic process, but the opposite, because there was a mood for innovation and experimentation.” He added that “this does not arise from our need to be original or to look modern or to impress. This arises first of all from the need to express an anxiety after a prolonged period of crisis regarding the quality of our political proposal, but also the way and form of its expression”. In this context, he spoke of “an attempt to reflect on our decisive organ, the KO, with more collegiality and more willingness to deepen”. “I am confident that this bold venture with its multiple beneficial effects will pave the way for the creation of a political tradition of creativity,” she said. Mrs. Tzakri thanked the journalists for their interest all these days and all the deputies and department heads of the KO of SYRIZA “who participated in various ways for their contribution”. “Above all, I want to thank the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, because he contributed much more to this case than hospitality,” he said. At another point she said about her report on hospitality that “she reminded us all of the Greek route which teaches that when a man has felt the need to go out on foreign roads in foreign places, he is the most suitable to revive the spirit of hospitality to his house as a moral debt”. Asked if this process brought something new to KO, in the way of working, the secretary of KO replied: “Of course. A more collective way of working with more depth”.
