“We as Freedom Sailing we want there not to be a single person both in the territory and abroad who wants to vote and cannot for practical reasons. We support the postal vote and will vote for the relevant initiative concerning them European elections and the referendums”, said the president of Plefsis Eleftherias Zoe Konstantopoulou on Wednesday morning on SKAI and the program SIMERA, regarding the amendment for the postal vote.

About the national elections and the amendment he said: “For the nationals, because it was tabled after the consultation, after the committee process, an overdue amendment that has too many loopholes, it is not right to enter the parliamentary process in this way, i.e. through the ‘window’. If it had been filed on time, we would have discussed it. We believe that at this moment, given that we have European elections ahead of us, we can understand the difficulties that the government is facing in some issues that are crucial for us, such as the existence of polling stations abroad as well as postal voting. We do not want overseas polling stations to be abolished, this initiative is now abolishing them. We want the citizens to have the choice.”

“It is very important in the field of the electoral process to build the confidence of the citizen, because the elections are about their well-being, so they must have confidence in the system,” he said

“Our vote is neither opportunistic nor regular, it is a conscious vote because we know very well that some people will be able to vote this way and otherwise they won’t be able to,” he said.

“We don’t think the bill is perfect,” he stressed

“We want equal rights for all people”

About the same-sex couples she commented: “We want equal rights for all people, marriage and childbearing for same-sex couples, as well as for heterosexuals, is a matter of human rights. Since a right is recognized in one human existence it must be recognized in all human existences. There is no discrimination.”

“What we have been living with until now was the non-recognition of a right that should be recognized. Humanity is progressing,” he emphasized.

“The fitness of the parent has nothing to do with gender,” he added
