The president of the party’s KO, Sokratis Famellos, spoke on the “Today” show on SKAI about SYRIZA’s low percentages in the polls, the postal vote, the marriage of same-sex couples and squatting.

There was a problem in the party with what it was emitting to society

Asked about the low percentages of SYRIZA in the opinion polls, Mr. Famellos said that “the opinion polls recently show that SYRIZA has a big answer to give to society. I estimate that by the time the conference is over, this image of trust, reliability and a complete proposal will not be complete to society.”

“The problem and need was not the change of the president but the change of the party that had a problem with what it was emitting to society, a credible proposal of an alternative government and not an opposition,” he added.

The government dropped a bombshell on the postal vote

Commenting on the position of the main opposition party, Mr. Famellos emphasized that “the position we took in the postal vote was a proof that we can make excesses and proposals. The government has little reading. The government did the most anachronistic thing. We made proposals since December, which were not heard, and yet we voted for it on principle in the committee, while we also submitted ten proposals which the government did not accept.”

“The government undermined the consent that we and PASOK gave at the beginning to work together and the government did not listen to any of the proposals and then dropped a bomb.”

There is a political problem when a minister does not vote for a bill

Responding to whether SYRIZA will vote for the bill for the marriage of same-sex couples, he said “for same-sex couples it is too early to say. He put in a limited one-week consultation while a parliamentary row has emerged with the Secretary of State not voting on the bill. There is also a political problem in the parliamentary rule. If Mr. Mitsotakis does not vote instead, will the government have credibility? We will vote for any bill and article we agree on.”

For the squats

Regarding the issue of squatting in universities, Mr. Famellos said that “the university community is fighting for the abolition of universities and this plan must be stopped. The students are mobilizing because they are worried.”
