Dimitris Kalogeropoulos occupies the seat of Miltiadis Varvitsiotis who resigned today as an MP.

The same has served as mayor of Aegaleo for eight consecutive years while he was first runner-up in the Western Sector with New Democracy.

Who is Dimitris Kalogeropoulos?

He was born in Western Athens and is the child of a large family. He is married and has one daughter.

He studied at the School of Architecture in Rome and Florence from where he graduated and has a master’s degree in Urban Planning. He is a freelancer, Architect-Engineer (with a Master’s Degree in Special Buildings and Spatial Planning). Founding member of the West Athens Engineers Association.

He has contributed to the development of the West Athens Hospital “Agia Varvara” (Unpaid Vice-President of the Board of Directors with its reorganization and expansion, from 50 beds, to 175 and its operation with some Wards).

He was a Professor at TEI Piraeus in the Department of Structural Engineering for a number of years.
He was an advisor to the Deputy Ministry of Sports,
Vice-President of the Association of Football Clubs of Athens (EPSA),
Vice President of the Shooting Federation of Greece (SKOE) and
President of the Clay Target.
He was a member of the Torch Relay Committee of the Hellenic Olympic Committee (EOE).

For the first time he was involved with Local Government in 1992where he was appointed Prefect of Preveza, at the age of 30.

He was the Mayor of Aigaleo for eight consecutive years from 2002 to 2010. In the municipal elections of 2006, he was re-elected from the first Sunday.

It was President of the Local Union of Municipalities and Communities of the Prefecture of Attica – TEDKNA from 2007 to 2011 and member of the Board. of KEDE.
He was mmember of the Board of Directors of the Athens Regulatory Plan Organization,
member of the Board of Directors of the West Athens Development Association (ASDA)and
member of the Board of Directors of the Olive Grove Management and Development Organization Association (SODAE).

From 2004 to 2009 proceed all individual application operationsaccording to the Law, for Eleonas, from where the creation of New KTEL is currently proceeding.
Is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE).

In 2012, he was appointed Secretary General of the Decentralized Administration of Attica, until 2014.
In 2014, he was Secretary General Coordinator of the Ministry of the Interior for waste management.

Since 2007 he has been a member of the European Committee of the Regions until today.
During his tenure, he has been elected three times Vice-President of the EPP (European People’s Party) Group in the Committee of the Regions and 4 times Vice-President of the Committee.
Head of the Greek Delegation for a number of years.
Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee (NAT),
President of the CoR’s Joint Advisory Committee on Serbia.
He participated in the Committee “Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs” (CIVEX), the Committee “Environment, Climate Change and Energy” (ENVE), the Working Group on the Western Balkans, the Working Group on Turkey and the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) and was a rapporteur in a number of important opinions of the Committee.

He was President (2016-2019) of the Hellenic Association for Local Development and Self-Government (EETAA).

He was for a number of years Secretary of Self-Government of the New Republic
He was a Member of the Policy Committee of the New Democracy.

In 2019 he was a candidate for Member of Parliament in the Western Sector of Athens, with New Democracy.
