For me, supporting the primary sector is the first political priority, said the prime minister
The Prime Minister was found in the agricultural block of Vonitsa Kyriakos Mitsotakis after the inauguration of the new highway Aktio – Amvrakia.
Conversing with farmers and after listening to their requests, the prime minister told them: “You will neither become waiters, nor will you leave for Germany. For me, supporting the primary sector is a first political priority. I know the problems firsthand. During these difficult 4 years, the government stood as much as possible close to the farmers with the support of ELGA with compensations of 1 billion euros, with a reduction of VAT on fertilizers and animal feed. We are open to discussion to see what we can do better. We know the pending issues, as far as possible we will do the best we can because the financial possibilities are not unlimited”.
The representative of the farmers, addressing the prime minister, asked for measures to support the primary sector.
Among other things, he asked him to set minimum prices for products, to change the ELGA regulation, to reduce production costs and to create infrastructure projects in the countryside. “We are fighting for survival, the country without a primary sector will not be called a country,” he said characteristically.
